Gérald Lacroix

Gérald Cyprien Lacroix Cardinal Ispx ( born July 27, 1957 in Saint- Hilaire de Dorset) is Archbishop of Québec.

Life

Gérald Cyprien Lacroix studied theology at the University of Laval. After a postgraduate degree in Pastoral Theology in 1975, he joined the Secular Institute of St. Pius X at. In 1982 he made ​​his perpetual vows. In 1982 he became Secretary General of his institute, from 1985 director of the General Assembly. From 1985 to 1987 he was responsible for the religious orientation and spirituality. On 8 October 1988, he received by the Bishop of Baie- Comeau, Maurice Couture RSV ordination. From 1999 to 2000 he built offices in Colombia. From 2001 to 2004 he was Director General of the Secular Institute of St. Pius X, he was re- elected until 2009, 2005.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 7 April 2009 as Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Quebec City and Titular Bishop of Hilta. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Quebec, Cardinal Marc Ouellet PSS, on 24 May 2009; Co-consecrators were Maurice Couture RSV, retired archbishop of Quebec, and Gilles Lemay, Bishop in Quebec City. On 22 February 2011 he was appointed Archbishop of Quebec and Primate of Canada, and introduced into the office on March 25, 2011. He is Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Life and Family of the Canadian Conference of Bishops.
