Gerd Zimmermann (footballer)

Gerd Zimmermann ( born September 26, 1949) is a former German football player.

He played from 1968 to 1980 in the Bundesliga for Borussia Mönchengladbach, SC Fortuna Cologne, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Union Solingen. He was with Gladbach 1970 German champion and with Fortuna Dusseldorf in 1979 and 1980 DFB Cup winner. During the 1982/83 season he moved on November 6, 1982 by Union Solingen to Fortuna Köln. Zimmermann debuted on May 8, 1973 in the German U- 23 national team in their last 5 games he was used. In the European Championship qualifier against Poland on 5 September 1973 he scored a goal.

Zimmermann was in his time as a committee mightiest players in the Bundesliga. 1978/79 he succeeded as Defense 13 Bundesliga goals in total he scored 44 goals in 203 league games. His " flutter Men", shot from 30 to 35 feet away goal, were feared by goalkeepers.
