U 1276 was a German U- Boat Type VII C that was used in World War II by the former German Navy.

The boat was built at the Bremer Vulkan shipyard in Vegesacker Vegesack and after it had been launched on 25 February 1944, put into service on April 6, 1944. Commander was Lieutenant Karl -Heinz Wendt.

The submarine was assigned to the 8th U- Flotilla. After the end of the retraction of the boat 11 U- Flotilla was assumed to Bergen in Norway. In November 1944 it was fitted in Kiel at the 5th U- Flotilla, before it went to the front.

In January 1945, U was moved to Norway in 1276 and on 28 January 1945, the first first war patrol.

On February 20, 1945, the boat hit the convoy HX- 337 of the Royal Navy. The convoy was coming from about 40 ships, from Nova Scotia. The meeting succeeded U 1276, the corvette HMS Vervain to sink at 11:45 clock. The Vervain sank after 20 minutes. Because of the shallow coastal waters U could not escape by diving deep 1276. Just two nautical miles from the wreck site of the HMS Vervain, the submarine was sunk by HMS Amethyst. There were no survivors. ( Range: 51 ° 48 'N, 7 ° 7' W51.8 - 7.1166666666667 )
