Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey- Chambertin is a commune and a wine village in Burgundy, in the department of Côte -d'Or. The municipality has 3065 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011), located at an altitude of 275 m above sea level and has an area of ​​2471 hectares. Gevrey- Chambertin is located about 12 km south of Dijon and bordered to the south by Morey -Saint- Denis. In Gevrey is also the former rail yard of the railway junction Dijon ( Gevrey- Triage ), which even after its closure in this function is still an important freight depot. The inhabitants are called Gibriacois. How many towns in the Côte de Nuits Gevrey added in 1847, the name of its top vineyard in the names. The Chambertin, derived from Champ de Bertin, was considered the Emperor Napoleon's favorite wine.
