Ghanaian parliamentary election, 1965

The Ghanaian parliamentary elections in 1965 were held in Ghana in 1965 sham elections. At this time in Ghana was already only one party, the Convention People's Party allowed (CPP ) of President Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was therefore entitled to participate as a party only to the " elections."

The elections were the first for the Parliament of Ghana since independence. Nkrumah's victory in the popular vote in Ghana in 1960, in which it came to the adoption of the Constitution, was viewed as a mandate for another term of office of the members of the National Assembly.

All 198 seats in the Parliament were now occupied by members of the CPP who were lined up for "election" unopposed.

A year later, Nkrumah was overthrown in a coup, the Constitution repealed and introduced the multi -party system by the next parliamentary elections in 1969 again.
