Giacopo Antonio Venier

Giacopo Antonio Venier (* 1422 in Recanati, † August 3, 1479 ) was a Spanish cardinal.

Life

After giving birth in Recanati and the doctorate in law, he was papal scribe in Rome and later clerics of the Apostolic Chamber.

The Pope appointed him on January 9, 1462 as Bishop of Syracuse and on September 16, 1464 as Bishop of León. King Henry IV sent him as ambassador to Rome. Venier was consecrated on October 6, 1469 to the Bishop of Cuenca, this post he retained until his death.

Pope Sixtus IV made ​​him in the consistory on May 7, 1473 Cardinal Priest of Santi Vito e Modesto and on December 3, 1476 he got San Clemente as a titular church. He died on August 3, 1479 at the age of 57 years in Recanati. His remains were transferred to Rome and buried in his titular church of San Clemente.
