Gian Paolo Chiti

Gian Paolo Chiti ( born January 21, 1939 in Rome ) is an Italian composer and pianist. At the age of four, he began playing the piano and violin and it emerged his own compositions. He also gave a few concerts before 10 -year-old into the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the most famous Italian Conservatory entered.

His principal teachers were Arturo Bonucci, Carlo Zecchi and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli ( with private lessons and training courses ). He has won numerous competitions, including the Treviso and the Busoni Competition.

Chiti began his career as a pianist, often as a companion to his wife, a well-known mezzo-soprano and founder and president of the foundation Adkins Chiti " Donne in Musica ".

He wrote songs for various combinations of instruments and electronic music. To his Opus includes scores for movies and television. His works are among the most famous festivals in Italy and abroad, such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, at the Venice Biennale, the Edinburgh Festival, the Lutoslawski Festival in Poland, the Cantiere Internazionale di Montepulciano, the Nuova Consonanza, Incontri Musicali the Romani, the Chopin Festival, the Sacred Music Festival in Chartres, France, at the Teatro Nacional in Caracas in Venezuela and in public concerts of the Moscow Conservatory. From 1984 Chiti headed the department of composition at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. He is also a member of the Italian National Commission for dancing and visiting professor at several Italian and American universities.
