Gianluca Susta

Gianluca Susta ( born April 10, 1956 in Biella ) is an Italian politician.

Susta took a doctorate in law and worked as a lawyer at higher courts. Politically, he was active for many years in the Christian Democrats and the Partito Popolare Italiano. In 2001 he was president of the Constituent Assembly of the new party La Margherita, where he sat in the State Executive Committee and Regional Secretary for the Piedmont was. He also served on the board of the European Democratic Party. For years Susta was first municipal council, then Assessor and 1992-2004 mayor of Biella, sußerdem he was chairman of the Provincial Council of Biella and 2000-2005 Vice- President of the Regional Government of Piedmont. He was also Vice- President of the Italian Towns and Municipalities day and a member of the Conference State - city community and local authorities. On 8 May 2006 he moved according to the European Parliament. In 2009 he was re-elected on the list of Partito Democratico and was Deputy Chairman of the Group of SPE. In the elections in 2013 Susta ran for the Scelta Civica of Mario Monti and moved into the Senate.
