Gianni Franciolini

Gianni Franciolini ( born June 1, 1910 in Florence, † January 1, 1960 in Rome ) was an Italian film director.

Life

Franciolini went to Paris in 1929, to develop as a journalist and there came in contact with the artistic avant-garde of the time, so even with Eugène Deslaw. He was assistant director of Georges Lacombe and filmed the documentary vérité sur l'Italie. From 1938 he was back in his home country and led, among other things, according to assistant director Mario Soldati and Camillo Mastrocinque, 1940 for the first time a feature film director. His second, staged directly after film Fari nella nebbia, is probably his best work dar. From the poetic realism in France influenced Franciolini here managed to approach the Telefoni Bianchi to the reality of the people of his time of origin. In post-war Italy, Franciolini moved up to his early death mainly comedies and genre films with influences of neo-realism, often by Cesare Zavattini of screenplays.
