Gianni Pittella

Gianni Pittella ( born November 19, 1958 in Lauria, Province of Potenza ) is an Italian politician. Since 1999 he is a member of the European Parliament.

Life

Pitt Ella holds degrees in medicine and surgery. Specializing Pitt Ella has focused on forensic medicine and insurance medicine. He was regional secretary of the Young Socialists, member of the party executive of the DS ( national leadership ) and commissioner of the DS for the Italians living abroad.

From 1979 to 1980 Pitt Ella was a municipal councilor. He then became a member of the Regional Council and Speaker of Education and Culture as well as for the manufacturing sector.

Since 1999 he is a member of the European Parliament and Vice- President of the European Parliament for the seventh parliamentary term. In Parliament Pitt Ella Takes the PD Party ( Partito Democratico ) and is a member of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament.

During the sixth legislature Pitt Ella, the party national leadership Sinistra DS as part of the Party of European Socialists. It also led to the seat of the Budget Committee and was a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.
