Gil Reece

Gilbert Ivor Reece ( born July 2, 1942 in Cardiff, Wales, † December 20, 2003 Cardiff ) was a Welsh football player.

As Reece for Cardiff City started playing, he worked as a plumber. At the time he had a part-time contract. After he had borrowed for a period of time to Ton Pentre, he debuted in the reserve team of Cardiff. In the season 1962/63 he was released and went to Pembroke Borough FC at the end of the season before he got an offer from AFC Newport County, where he was active for one year. Through his impressive performances he fell on, which meant that Sheffield United signed him for £ 10,000. Shortly thereafter, he made his debut for the Welsh national team in a match against England.

Playing career

Reece took part in 29 games of the Welsh national team and played more than 200 games for Sheffield United. He scored 58 goals for Sheffield. After 1976 Reece played for Barry Town. After the end of his career he worked as a hotel owner. Reece died in 2003 in his hometown of Cardiff.
