Giorgio Lingua

Giorgio Lingua ( born March 23, 1960 in Fossano, Italy) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican Diplomat.

Life

Giorgio Lingua, on completing his studies, on 10 November 1984 the ordination to the priesthood. After receiving his doctorate in canon law in 1992 Lingua entered the diplomatic service of the Vatican one. He was in the offices in the Ivory Coast and in the U.S., working in the Vatican Secretariat of State and last Counsellor at the Representation of the Vatican in Serbia.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on September 4, 2010 Titular Archbishop of Tuscania and appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan and Iraq. He received his episcopal consecration on October 9, 2010 Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB in St. Peter's Basilica; Co-consecrators were the Cardinal Vicar for the Diocese of Rome, Cardinal Agostino Vallini, and the prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Cardinal Franc Rode CM.
