Giovanni Antonio Amadeo

Giovanni Antonio Amadeo ( * 1447 in Pavia; † August 27, 1522 in Milan ) was Italian sculptor and architect.

Amadeo was involved in the takeover of the Tuscan Renaissance in Lombardy, where he worked mainly. The Colleoni Chapel in Bergamo is with the facade of colored marble and the sculpture of the finest examples of Amadeo's architecture. It was created in 1470-1476. In addition, the Colleoni tombs and the facade of the Certosa di Pavia were from his hand and at the Kuppelbekrönung of Milan Cathedral he worked with. His last major work was the 1498 sarcophagus of the saint Lanfranco.
