Giovanni Battista Maria Pallotta

Giovanni Battista Maria Pallotta (* February 2, 1594 in Caldarola; † January 22, 1668 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal.

Life

He was a papal nuncio at the end of the twenties of the 17th century and since 1628 Titular Archbishop of Thessalonica. He was knighted by Pope Urban VIII on November 19, 1629 cardinal of the titular church of San Lorenzo in Lucina. In 1631 he received the titular church of San Silvestro in Capite.

In 1647 he was comber of the Holy College of Cardinals. He was consecrated bishop of Albano, and in 1666 bishop of Frascati in 1663.

1648 and 1649 he occupied the exiled English poet Richard Crashaw as secretary. Cardinal Giovanni Evangelista Pallotta was his uncle, other family members were the Cardinals Guglielmo Pallotta and Pallotta Antonio.
