Caldarola

Caldarola is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1836 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Macerata in the Marche region. The municipality is situated approximately 19 km west-southwest of Macerata. The Chienti lies in the north. Caldarola belongs to the Comunità montana dei Monti Azzurri.

History

Caldarola was created as a rural village sometime before the 9th - 10th Century. 1434 Independence in a bull by Pope Eugene IV ( 1434 ) was formalized. The heyday of the then emerging resort culminated in the 16th century.

During the intensive urban renewal under Pope Sixtus V (1585-1590) was especially Evangelista Pallotta services to the redesign of Caldarola with the development of a long-range development plan.
