Apiro

Apiro is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2359 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Macerata in the Marche region. The community is located about 28 kilometers northwest of Macerata. Apiro is part Comunità montana del San Vicino and directly borders the province of Ancona, in the southeast of the community is a part of Lago di Cingoli.

History

The territory has been inhabited by Etruscans or the local tribes were in contact with the Etruscans. The herein Etruscan warrior statuette of Apiro, which is at the Nelson - Atkins Museum of Art today dates from around 460 BC.
