Montefano

Montefano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3555 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Macerata in the Marche region. The municipality is situated approximately 13 kilometers north of Macerata and directly borders the province of Ancona. The northern boundary of the municipality is the Fiumicello, the southern of the Monocchia.

History

The ancient settlement on the spot Montefanos was created by the destruction of the Piceno city Veragra and the expulsion of its inhabitants. In the 6th century AD Montefano was again, this time destroyed by the Goths.

Traffic

Through the community's former Strada Statale 361 Septempedana leads (now a provincial road ) of Camerano Aspio to Nocera Umbra.
