Giovanni De Andrea

Giovanni De Andrea ( born April 22, 1928 in Rivarolo Canavese, Province of Turin, Italy; † 19 January 2012) was a diplomat of the Holy See and a Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Giovanni De Andrea received on 29 June 1951, the ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of Ivrea. From 1956 to 1958 De Andrea graduated from the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, and then entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Pope Paul VI. gave him on 21 June 1963 honorary title Surplus secret chamberlain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) and on 13 April 1973 title prelate of honor to His Holiness.

On April 14, 1975, he was named Paul VI. Titular Archbishop of Aqua Viva and apostolic delegate in Angola. Cardinal Secretary of State Jean- Marie Cardinal Villot donated to him on 11 May of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Giovanni Benelli and Bernardin Gantin.

On January 26, 1983, he was by Pope John Paul II, Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Iran, and on 22 November 1986 concerning the Apostolic Pro- Nuncio to Algeria and Tunisia, and Apostolic Delegate appointed in Libya. On February 29, 1992, he was appointed Vice- President of the Labour Office of the Apostolic See ( ULSA ). He was from 1993 to 2003 Chairman of the Board of Libreria Editrice Vaticana, the Vatican publishing house plot. His old conditional resignation, Pope Benedict XVI. on 13 October 2007.

He was the world until the restructuring of the Lieutenancy Italia Centrale e Sardegna Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem, the largest Lieutenancy of the Order, in 2010, the Grand Prior. His brother Giuseppe De Andrea was a canon of the Basilica of St. Peter and Apostolic Nuncio to Kuwait and Assessor of the grave knight.
