Giovanni Paolo Lascaris

Fra ' Jean de Lascaris - Castellar ( Jean -Paul and Jean Baptiste, * 1560, † August 14, 1657 ) was the 57th Grand Master of the Order of Malta.

He was one of the Provencal tongue of the Order when he was elected on June 13, 1636 Grand Master. He held office until his death in August 1657th

During his tenure, Spain and France were at war with each other, which led to considerable tension between the knights of the two nations that demanded him some diplomatic skills. During his tenure, the Valetta were inland upstream attachment line called " Floriana Lines" completed, construction of which was begun by his predecessor, according to the plans of the famous Italian engineer Pietro Paolo Floriana in Malta. He also began the fastening system of the island to supplement named after him Lascaris Towers along the coast.
