Giulio Bas

Giulio Bas (* April 21, 1874 in Venice, † August 27, 1929 ) was an Italian composer and organist.

Bas studied with Giovanni Marco Enrico Bossi Tebaldini and and in Munich with Joseph Rheinberger. In 1901 he became organist at the Basilica di San Marco, and later at the Church of St. Louis of the French in Rome. From 1912 he taught at the conservatory in Gregorian chant. Among his pupils were, inter alia, Eduardo Dagnino, Domenico De Paoli, Renzo Bracesco, Michelangelo Abbado, Luigi Picchi, Enea Giuseppe Ferrante and Biella.

Bas wrote several writings on music theory and Gregorian chant. He composed several works for organ and songs and published a Oboenschule.
