Giuseppe Guerini

Giuseppe Guerini ( born February 14, 1970 in Gazzaniga, Italy ) is an Italian former racing cyclist.

The climber Guerini was 1993 professional cyclist. He began his career with the team Navigare; 1995 to 1998 he drove for the team Polti. From 1999 up to end of his career he was at Team Telekom (now Team Columbia ) active. Guerini got the nickname " Turbo Beppe " because he lived in his youth near a turbine power plant.

The qualities of Guerini were mainly in the mountains, which is why he turned out to be important tool of Jan Ullrich in the Tour de France. In the 1999 Tour de France he met shortly before the finish at L' Alpe d' Huez with a photographed spectators together. Despite his following fall, he managed to win this started in Sestrières " queen stage " with their heavy mountain top finish at L' Alpe d' Huez. Only six years later, at the Tour de France 2005, he succeeded on the 19th stage again to win a stage. By an attack roughly one km before the finish Guerini could disassociate his competition and so to celebrate one of the most important successes of his career. August 21, 2007 Giuseppe Guerini announced his retirement from cycling at the end.
