Gladstone Publishing

Gladstone ( Gladstone Publishing) was an American publishing house, which published from 1986 to 1990 and from 1993 to 1998 Disney comics. The name of the publisher was derived from Gladstone Gander, English Gladstone Gander.

History

The company had to publish its origin in a subdivision of Another Rainbow, a company that was founded by Bruce Hamilton and Russ Cochran, Carl Barks Library and bring out limited editions of oil paintings by Carl Barks as lithographs.

New editions of older Donald Duck stories by Carl Barks and Mickey Mouse by Floyd Gottfredson stories were the first products of the publisher. The recent American Disney artist Keno Don Rosa, William Van Horn and Pat Block started their careers at Gladstone. Some of the stories of Van Horn were written by John Lustig. The publisher was primarily aimed at collectors, which is evident from the fact that often the comments of artists or other articles were reprinted. It also European Disney comics publishers Egmont, Oberon and Mondadori published. These included well -known European comic artist Romano Scarpa as, Marco Rota, Daan Jippes and Freddy Milton.

After the publisher gave up a second time, only the series Walt Disney 's Comics and Stories and Uncle Scrooge is not set.

Soft cover albums

During the first publication time Gladstone brought out 28 albums and seven full-length albums, in which nearly all the stories of Carl Barks and Floyd Gottfredson was published again.

When the rights to the old Barks stories expired in 1998, the publishing house was closed. 2003 Gemstone Publishing got the rights to publish comics again in the USA.
