The Glasebacher pond was a scale for mining purposes an artificial pond at Strassberg. With a storage quantity of approximately 300,000 cubic meters, it was the second largest lake of the Lower Harz. Dammed the Glasebach.

History

The pond was an art and engine pond water to drive shafts, Pochwerken, water mills and cottages delivered. The pond was created in 1716 under the direction of mine director Christian Zacharias cooking. As a result of a storm, the dam broke in 1752 already, after the harrow system could no longer be operated. The waters of the dam breach destroyed the Bärlochsmühle at the mouth of the valley.

The still existent dam section is now part of a conservation area Lower Harz Pond and grave system.
