Glendronach is a whiskey distillery in Forgue at Huntly in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The distillery buildings are partially sorted in the Scottish lists of monuments in the B category.

History

1826, the distillery Glendronach by James Allardice founded and quickly became known in the London aristocracy, as Count of Gordon, who had lost his heart to this new whiskey, Allardice invited to London. Since that time, the owners of the distillery, which include, among others, Charles Grant, one of the sons of William Grant ( the owner of the distillery Glenfiddich ), which they belonged from 1920 to 1960, several times. Changed Wm Teacher & Sons took over in 1960, the distillery Glendronach to the announced closure in 1996 by the parent company Allied Domecq. Glendronach 2005 was opened by Pernod Ricard again. Three years later the distillery to the Benriach Distillery Co. Ltd. was. sold.

Production

As in the production of Glendronach emphasis on tradition, refers to the barley or from surrounding farms. The manufacturing process begins with a millstone of the malt, then it is not broken and mixed in a copper mash tun with water from the nearby Dronac Burn. Tourism

The distillery with its approximately 4000 square meters can be visited during the one-to two -hour tour with an experienced technician. In addition to a Discovery Tour, the company also offers a Tasting Tour, also known as Premium Tour. The special offer of whiskey distillery is the Connoisseurs ' Experience, in which the manager Frank Massie personally imagine some varieties and can be tested. The prices are between 5 and 25 pounds. You can only be booked on Mondays and Wednesdays and are carried out from four people.
