Glentauchers distillery

Glentauchers is a whiskey distillery in Mulben, Banffshire, Scotland, United Kingdom. It is close to Auchroisk distillery.

History

Glentauchers was established near the divers forest in the Speyside region in 1897 by James Buchanan, WP Lowrie. They first had two stills. In 1903 she was renamed Glentauchers - Glenlivet Distillery and taken over in 1906 by Buchanan. Since Buchanan sales essentially blends (including Black & White ), the fires produced were used mostly for blending. 1925, the distillery was incorporated into the DCL Group and taken over in 1930 by Scottish Malt Distillers. Mid-sixties learned the distillery a modernization, where a new building was erected burning and four more stills have been added. In 1985 the distillery was closed and re-opened in 1989 by Allied Distillers. Allied Distillers was acquired by Chivas Brothers, which were eventually incorporated into the Pernod Ricard Group.

Production

The water comes from the Rosarie Burn, which opens later in the Spey. The distillery has a production capacity of 34,000 hectoliters of alcohol per year and uses three wash stills and spirit stills. In the year 2000 19.000 hectoliters were produced. Production can not be visited.

Samples

Glentauchers - fires continue to be used mostly for producing blends. In 2000, the first official single malt bottling with 15 years of maturation was put on the market. However, there are several bottlings independent bottler.
