Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia Online

The Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia Online ( Gameo ) is a church founded in 1996, online encyclopedia in English with the topics of Anabaptists and Mennonites. The project of a Mennonite Encyclopedia should provide relevant information on history, theology, individuals and institutions in the Anabaptist- mennonitschen area a wider audience. The offer is free of charge.

The project was founded in 1996 under the name Canadian Mennonite Encyclopedia Online by the Historical Association of Canadian Mennonites. Since 2005, the historical commission of the American Mennonite Brethren Churches ( Mennonite Brethren ) and the U.S. Mennonite Church are involved in the project. In the same year the encyclopedia was renamed accordingly. 2006 also met with the Mennonite Central Committee in 2007 and finally add the Mennonite World Conference. In addition to a Board of Directors (Management Board) with representatives of the participating institutions each project is a Canadian and an American editorial group. The work on the articles is mostly done by volunteers.

The article in the online encyclopedia to go in large part to revised article the middle of the 20th century in North America, published Mennonite Encyclopedia and also to articles of the first half of the 20th century in four volumes published in Germany Mennonite lexicon back. In February 2009, the encyclopedia included more than 14,000 items.
