Geographical location

Glogów Małopolski is about twelve kilometers north of Rzeszów in the Tiefebende of Sandomierz.

History

On April 22, 1570 Krzysztof Głowa issued the statement that at the site of the present Glogów Małopolski a city is to be built, which should be named after him Głowów. This was the first Polish city that was built in the Renaissance style for a map. The center of the city formed a square market with a side length of 168 meters. The city was chartered Głowów awarded after Magdeburg Law with a certificate from the May 31, 1578. After the Tatar invasion of the city walls was surrounded and the roads led only via gates to the outside. On April 20, 1630, the wooden church of the city was inaugurated. The occupation lasted until the invasion of the Red Army on 30 July 1944. On July 22, 1960, the connection was made to the rail network with connection to the nearby town of Rzeszów.
