Elephant trunk fish ( Gnathonemus petersii )

Gnathonemus is a genus of freshwater fish from the family of Mormyridae. The animals live in muddy and murky waters in Angola, in the basin of the Congo, in the Victoria and Lake Tanganyika, the Victoria Nile, in the lower Niger, in Ogun, Cross River and in the upper Chari.

Features

Gnathonemus species are 11-36 inches long. Your body is compared to the other mormyrids, short or only moderately elongated. Dorsal and anal fin are approximately the same length and are facing each other symmetrically. The mouth is terminal on the snout. The teeth are limited to a number in the middle of the jaw.
