Gobiodon
Coral goby in an Acropora
Gobiodon is a genus of fish from the family of gobies. The species of this genus live hidden in ästigen stony corals ( Scleractinia ) of the genus Acropora and the Pocilloporidae family, often associated with fur bullheads and porcelain crabs in the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific. The bad float constantly live among the branches and defend the coral against predators such as butterfly fish and file fish. To spawn them gnaw off a small piece of coral tissue and glue their eggs on the bare spot. The skin of the Korallengrundeln is scaleless and covered with a toxic mucus, which protects them from predators. They are 2 to 6.5 inches tall. Korallengrundeln live zooplankton, even of such that have been captured for their own consumption, the coral polyps.
