Goclenius (crater)

73.04

The lunar crater Goclenius lies on the western edge of Mare Fecunditatis, southeast of the crater lavaüberfluteten Gutenberg and north of the crater Magellan. North West is a grave system, more than 240 km running Rimae Goclenius. The crater is marked by grooves and 72 km × 54 km in size. That some of the grooves in the area overlie the crater, suggesting that Goclenius is older than the structures surrounding it.

The namesake of this impact crater is Rudolf Goclenius the Younger.

The crater Goclenius A was approved by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) renamed Ibn Battuta.
