God's Army (revolutionary group)

God's Army is a rebel group in Myanmar, formerly Burma.

God's Army was founded in 1997 as a faction of the Karen National Union. They fought for the independence of the Kayin State of Myanmar. Its members were called Christian fanatics and even as a Christian terrorist. The group became known in 2000 through the hostage-taking at the Myanmar embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, and the taking of hostages at the hospital in Ratchaburi, Thailand. Officially, the group was led by twins Johnny and Luther Htoo brothers. These were not 10 years old at the foundation of the group. In 2001, the group is considered to be crushed by Myanmar and Thai troops. The two brothers surrendered in January 2001, the Thai authorities.
