Location of Godern in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Godern is a district of the municipality Pinnow. Until the end of 2011 Godern was an independent municipality with the districts Godern and New Godern.

Geography and transport

The village lies between the Godern Pinnower lake in the southwest, the smaller Mühlensee the east and the forested area in the north of High Wood. The latter are more than 75 m above sea level. NHN also the highest elevations in the local area. Almost a third of the local area is covered with forest.

South of Godern there are connections to the B321 and the A14 to the north of the B 104 near cities of Schwerin and Crivitz. Godern has a direct connection to the public Busnahverkehrsnetz the city of Schwerin.

History

Godern is first mentioned in 1376 under the Slavic name " Gudeware ". The area was already inhabited but earlier. Am Mühlbach is an old disused water mill. Like the entire surrounding area Godern was pulled by the Thirty Years War affected. 1646 to have been almost destroyed by a fire in the place. The area belonged until 1918 to the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg -Schwerin, then to the state of Mecklenburg, which was replaced in 1952 by the district of Schwerin. From 1952-1994 the town was part of the circle Schwerin country since 1994 Godern belongs to the district Parchim, from 2011 to the district Ludwigslust - Parchim. After 1990 the population rose sharply through the newly opened residential areas. On the banks of Pinnower lake is a swimming area. Effective 1 January 2012 Godern was incorporated into Pinnow.

The coat of arms was approved on 5 September 1997 by the Home Office and registered under No. 138 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
