Godzisław, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Godzisław ( German Glasenapp ) is a village in Gmina Grzmiąca ( Gramenz ) in Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the powiat Szczecinecki ( Pommern ).

Geographical location

Godzisław ( Glasenapp ) is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 26 kilometers northwest of Szczecinek ( Pommern ) and 135 kilometers north-east of the regional capital Szczecin.

History

On September 22, 1777 Captain Joachim Casimir of Glasenapp with the manor Grünewald was (now Mieszałki ) been invested, which since then was owned by the family of Glasenapp. Descendants of the family built their new property east of the village and called the resulting settlement Grünewald -Gut. Sometime during the period 1923 to 1925 the family sold the property, and two sons emigrated to Brazil. The village Glasenapp was founded in 1928 on the land of Grünewald -Gut. This area was then sold in 1929 to farmers who built on their farms. The new place belonged to the municipality and to the registry office Grünewald and had its own, built in 1907 Schoolhouse, was in the still taught.

After the Second World War, the region was occupied in the spring of 1945 by the Red Army and subsequently placed under Polish administration. The German village Glasenapp was renamed Godzisław. It migrated to Poland, who urged the German population from their homes and farms and eventually expelled due to the so-called Bierut Decrees of Glasenapp.
