Gold Against the Soul is the second album by the Welsh alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers. It was released on 21 June 1993.

The album marked a major difference to the previous generation Terrorists, both lyrically and musically. The angry political lyrics of the debut gave way to a more personal, almost poetic style. Even the music was changing: the Hard Rock their 92er album was slightly massentauglicheren by one, replaced yet bulky alternative rock. The CD contains both radio-friendly anthems like From Despair to Where and La tristesse durera ( Scream to a Sigh ) ( a song about Vincent van Gogh) as well as dark, inaccessible songs like Nostalgic Pushead or Symphony of Tourette's.

Both the band and many critics appreciate Gold Against the Soul as one of the weakest and unfokussiertesten albums of their career one, with fans enjoying it but because of the lyrics of Richey James Edwards and the loud music a high status, although some conditions the step Mainstream criticize.
