Golden Circle (Iceland)

Gullni hringurinn (literally: Golden Ring or Golden Round Trip ) is a popular travel route in South West and South Iceland. Foreign tourists, it is mostly known by the designation Golden Circle. Starting from the capital Reykjavík, you can visit three of the most famous attractions of the island in a day trip.

The three main attractions on this route are:

  • The former Thing - site Þingvellir National Park of,
  • The geothermal Haukadalur with the Great Geysir ( namesake of all geysers )
  • The Strokkur geyser that erupts reliably about every 10 minutes,
  • The thermal source Blesi,

Bus tours from Reykjavík, which last about 8.5 hours, often stop even at the volcano crater Kerið.

  • The hot springs in Laugarvatn,
