Golyam Perelik

The Great Perelik ( Bulgarian Голям Перелик [ ɡoʎjɐm Perelik ] ) is the highest mountain in the Rhodope Mountains. It is located in Bulgaria, 19 km west of Smolyan.
With this mountain Rhodopes are at seventh place in Bulgaria, by:
- Rila with the Musala
- Pirin with the Vihren,
- Balkan mountains with Botev peak which,
- Vitosha with Cherni Wrach,
- Osowskagebirge with the Ruen and
- Slavyanka with the Gozew.
The Great Perelik is easy to climb, but at present (August 2008) may not be entered, as there is a unit of the Bulgarian armed forces stationed to the summit. The foot of the mountain can be reached in 40 Wegminuten from the refuge Perelik.
