Gömürgen

Gömürgen is a municipality in the district in the Turkish province of Kayseri Akkışla. It is located 6 kilometers from Akkışla and 86 kilometers from Kayseri. Exact data on the founding of the village are not known.

Geography and climate

To the east and southeast of Gömürgen are the mountain Hınzır Dagi and the village of Ortaköy. Akkışla located west of Gömürgen. South of Gömürgen is the county Uğurlu and the village Ganışeh. Gömürgen, which is over 1400 - 1500m above sea level, has a continental climate. The vegetation is reminiscent of a desert. The reason for this lies in the constant overstocking and the disproportionate Roden to convert the land into arable and pasture land. This in turn is the reason for the risk of erosion in and around Gömürgen. Gömürgen has more than 40 wells. Gömürgen has the following Mahalles: Yesil Mahalle; Cumhuriyet Mah and Yeni Mahalle.

Education

In Gömürgen there is the Derviş Çakırtekin elementary and middle school.

Culture and sights

The first Yogurtfestival took place in 1994.
