Gondal was a princely state of British India in the center of the Kathiawar Peninsula in what is now the state of Gujarat. Its capital was the site of Gondal. The principality was founded by Thakur Sahib Kumbhoji I. ( 1634-69 ), a Jadeja Rajput. It was a British protectorate 1807-1947. Bhagwatsimhji Sagramji (1869-1944) and Bhojrajji ( 1944-52 ) were able to personally lead the Maharaja title. Gondal in 1941 had a two- area parts area of ​​2652 square kilometers and 237,000 inhabitants.

On August 15, 1947 Gondal became a member of the State Union and Saurashtra on 15 February 1948, completed the connection to India. On November 1, 1956 all princely states were dissolved and the State of Bombay incorporated. Due to the division of Bombay on May 1, 1960 Gondal came to Gujarat.
