Saurashtra State

Saurashtra was a union of princely states in what is now the state of Gujarat. It was created in 1947 by the merger of 217 princes on the peninsula Kathiawar, but many of them ruled only a few villages and who joined in 1948 India. Rajkot was the capital, Rajpramukh (Head of State ) was the Maharaja of Nawanagar.
