Gordon Wasserman, Baron Wasserman

Gordon Joshua Wasserman, Baron Wasserman of Pimlico in the City of Westminster ( born July 26, 1938 in Montreal) is a British- Canadian business leaders, economists, academics and politicians of the Conservative Party, who worked as an independent consultant for the management of public services and since 2011 member of the House of Lords.

Life

Studies and government official

After schooling Wasserman graduated in economics at McGill University in Montreal and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts. He then completed with the support of a Rhodes Scholarship postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford and ended it with a Master of Arts ( MA). He then took a professor of economics at the University of Oxford.

In 1967, he entered the British government service and was initially economic advisor to the Ministry of the Interior (Home Office ) before he became head of the unit in 1973 for deprived urban areas of the public service (British Civil Service ). There, he studied until 1977, with the problems in British inner cities.

In 1981 he became an assistant to a Parliamentary Under-Secretary and Director of Social Policy in the Office of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

He was then in 1983 assistant to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Home Office for Questions of Science and Technology of the police before he was suspended in May 1995 for a year to the legal defense fund of the American Association for the Advancement of colored People National Association for the Advancement of Colored People ( NAACP ) to work.

In addition, he was between 1994 and 2000 Director of the Company SEARCH Group.

Entrepreneurs and the House of Lords member

Due to his many years of experience in information security and technology, he founded his own company The Gordon Wasserman Group, LLC and has since been working as an internationally recognized consultant for Management and Technology of judicial and law enforcement authorities.

After he worked as a special adviser on science and technology of the President of the New York City Police Department ( NYPD ) in August 1996, he was special adviser in 1998 and Chief of Staff of the Chief of Police of Philadelphia in October. In addition, he was between 1996 and 2003 consultant for law enforcement, correctional technology and political assessment of the National Institute of Justice of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Since November 2000 he has been chairman of the electronics company GE Ion Track, Inc, whose board he was a member since May 2000. In June 2002, he became chairman of an international team of experts, which should review the work of the Office of Science & Technology (OS & T ) of the National Institute of Justice to ensure that the OS & T was able to cope with the demands after the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001.

Last time was Wasserman, who again was a board member of SEARCH Group in July 2004, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Criminal Justice Sciences and Technology at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In addition, he was between November 2004 and August 2006, Board Member of the biotechnology company Orchid Cellmark Inc.

On 11 January 2011 he was raised by a Letters Patent as a life peer with the title Baron Wasserman, of Pimlico in the City of Westminster into the nobility. On January 13, 2011 his Introduction ( Introduction) followed as a member of the House of Lords.

As such, Lord Wasserman, who also works in the private sector as the executive director of the Berlin-based food business Yes Please Foods GmbH, one since 2011, advisor to the government of Prime Minister David Cameron for policy and criminal justice as well as a member of an advisory body of the Home Office to examine the structure new information technology to the police by private companies.
