Goshir Gyaltsab

Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche ( Tib: mtshur phu rgyal rin po che tshab, also: Goshri Gyeltshab, Tib: go shri rgyal tshab ) is the name of an important Trülku line of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. The Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche apply in this school traditionally as an emanation of the Bodhisattva Vajrapani.

History

The incarnation line of Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche is closely connected with the Gyelwa Karmapa, which are the respective highest lamas of the Karma Kagyu. The Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche is traditionally the Regent ( Gyeltshab ) of the Karmapa, who is responsible for the Tshurphu Monastery.

The first Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche was a student and from the age of 14 secretary of the sixth Karmapa Thongwa Dönden. The title Goshri (also: Gushri; gu Shri; " State teacher") he received from the then emperor of the Ming Dynasty. The second Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche Trashi Namgyel received as the Shamar and the Tai Situpa a red hat, and a red Vajra Crown as a sign of dignity and as a symbol of the inseparability of the mind of the Karmapa and the Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche. Trashi Namgyel was also responsible for the recognition and education of the 8th Karmapa Dorje Mikyö of particular importance. The 5th Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche was a spiritual friend of the 5th Dalai Lama, Ngawang Lobsang Gyatsho. The 10th Karmapa Choying Dorje left the 5th Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche the regency over the monasteries of the Karma Kagyu before he fled from Tibet in the 17th century. The Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche 6th - 11th were all known and recognized Tibetan meditation master.

Together with the 12th Tai Situpa enthroned the 12th Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche dragpa Tenpe Yarphel Ugyen Thrinle Dorje as the 17th Karmapa Gyelwa. In addition to the 12 Tai Situpa the 12th Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche is one of the main teachers of Ugyen Dorje Thrinle.
