Gotan Project

Gotan Project is a musical group from Paris who became known with electro tango. The band's name is a play on words from the Lunfardo and is caused by Silbenvertauschung from the word tango. Something similar happens in the French Verlan. A sound formative instrument in the music of Gotan Project is typical of the tango bandoneon.

History

The group was founded in 1999. Cohen Solal and Mueller worked together earlier than Boyz from Brazil, Christoph H. Müller played in Touch El Arab. The debut album La revancha del tango appeared in 2001. This core trio drew on this and other productions Argentine musicians such as the pianist Gustavo Beytelmann, the bandoneon player Nini Flores and percussionist Edi Tomassi also zoom like the Danish violinist Line Kruse and the Catalan singer Cristina Vilallonga.

The title of Santa maria ( del buen ayre ) was in the movie Shall We Dance? (USA 2004, original title: Shall We Dance) used for a tango between the lead actors Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere. In 2009, the song P.Temporada was used for a television commercial of the dishes cleaner Calgonit. Santa Maria was also starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz used in the action-comedy Knight and Day from the year 2010 in the lead roles, in which the title Diferente was used. Title Peligro often in the dance factory from the series All that matters danced.

On their album Tango 3.0 from the year 2010 appeared alongside other Dr. John in the title Tango Square on the B3 Hammond organ with.
