Gottfried Junker ( born June 18, 1950 in Günzburg ) is a German writer-director and photographer.

Life

Junker studied law at the University of Würzburg. After the first State examination in 1975, he made ​​18 months community service at the hospital Kempfenhausen the city of Munich. He no longer went to the legal training, but remained as an assistant in nursing continue working.

To the film came Junker as an autodidact. He turned many Super 8 films, which he showed in schools, film clubs and local theaters and discussed.

In 1981, the first 16- mm - long film Small characters. The film describes a journey on foot through a nameless mountain landscape without language, with non-professional actors and Eva Mattes as a guest.

Junkers first feature film, Hidden Love, was established in 1985 against the advice of the program director of the Bavarian Radio. The black-and-white film was shot within 4 weeks in Crete, with Peter Cieslinski and Greek children as actors, unscripted and almost without language. The improvised movie still surprised the film criticism, but ultimately ran only two copies in a few German cinemas. Only in Japan the movie could still be seen on the big screen in 1989, but later landed in the television channel.

The second and so far last movie, The House in the gorse, 1991 filmed in the south of France, this time on the basis of a screenplay. He found his way no longer to the movies, but was nevertheless shown at night on German television (BR, BR alpha, 3SAT ).

Now jobbed Junker as nursing assistants in the nursing home and moved in 1995 for two years to Vesoul in France, where he started a photographic portrait series about artists ( black and white, negative 6 cm × 7 cm). This photographic work includes today more than 600 meetings with internationally acclaimed artists as well as outsiders.
