Grabów nad Prosną

Grabów nad Prosną [' grabuf nad ' prɔsnɔ ] ( German Grabow, 1940-1945 Altwerder ) is a city in western Poland and the seat of the rural commune ( gmina wiejska ). It is situated in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, about 110 km south-east of Poznan on the banks of Prosna and belongs to the powiat Ostrzeszowski to.

History

In the Middle Ages Grabów Krongut was. The first written mention of the village as a possession of the Polish rulers carried out in 1264, the first mention of the castle 1366th The former castle of Grabów is the headquarters of the Polish noble family of Zaremba.

On August 20, 1416 King Władysław II Jagiello Grabów was named town. As a royal domain, and seat of a Starostei the city developed quite tranquil, with cloth-making, beer brewing and trade formed their economic bases.
