Grand Slam Cup

The Grand Slam Cup was held as highly doped tennis tournament of the year from 1990 to 1999: the winners received up to two million dollars. However, the athletic significance of the event was controversial because no world ranking points were awarded. In 2000, the Grand Slam Cup was replaced by the Tennis Masters Cup.

The Grand Slam Cup was an indoor tournament, which was founded in competition with the few weeks earlier held the ATP World Championship. He had (such as the ATP -WM) another Regulations as "normal" tournaments. Only 16 players were qualified, who had cut off most successful at the Grand Slam tournaments of the year.

Site of the Grand Slam Cup in Munich was, as there was in the early 1990s, the popularity of tennis in Germany by the successes in particular by Boris Becker and Steffi Graf at the peak.
