Great Mazinger

Great Mazinger (Japaneseグレート マジンガー) is a manga by the Japanese illustrator Go Nagai. Toei Animation produced an anime adaptation with 56 episodes. The work is classified in the genres of Action, Science Fiction and Mecha and is the sequel to Mazinger Z.

Action

After the death of Doctor Light, which the combat robot Mazinger Z has conquered, first returns a peace. The kingdom Mikene from the underground wants to conquer the surface and its inhabitants. The Emperor of Darkness is Mequinez leader. The underground kingdom sends two powerful robot to the surface, defeat the Mazinger Z and destroy the Research Institute of photon energy. Suddenly, the new robot Great Mazinger, which simply destroys the Mike niches robot appears.

Koji Kabuto, the pilot of the Mazingers Z, traveled to the USA to study in a U.S. university. Tetsuya Tsurugi, which controls the Great Mazinger, the new fighters of humanity against the Reich Mikene. Professor Kenzo Kabuto, the inventor of the Great Mazingers and chief of the fortress of science, Tetsuya Tsurugi helps against Mike niche empire.

The robots of Mikene lose every battle against Great Mazinger. Doctor Light is enlivened by the emperor of the darkness again, to strengthen the combat power. Professor Kenzo Kabuto is injured on the fort during an attack. At the end succeeds Tetsuya and Great Mazinger using Koji and Mazinger Z, to destroy the kingdom Mikene.

Figures

  • Tetsuya Tsurugi: The pilot of the robot Great Mazinger. He was an orphan who was adopted by Professor Kenzo Kabuto. Later Kenzo Kabuto trained him to control Great Mazinger. Tetsuya is brave, but he's macho and boisterous.

The manga was published from October 1974 to October 1975 in TV Magazine the publisher Kodansha. The chapter also appeared in two anthologies.

Produced in 1974, the studio Toei Animation, a 56- episode anime television series to manga. The character design designed Keisuke Morishita. The series was broadcast on 8 September 1974 to 28 September 1975 Fuji TV in Japan.

Telecinco broadcast the anime in Spain and Canale 5 and Super 3 in Italy.

The music of the series was composed by Michiaki Watanabe. Movies and OVA

Great Mazinger was the basis for the movies Great Mazinger Grendizer and Great Mazinger versus Getter Robo G. In addition to Mazinger Z Great Mazinger was part of the OVA Mazinkaiser of 1999.
