Greenbo Lake

The Greenbo Lake is a small reservoir in Greenup County, Kentucky. He is a member of Greenbo Lake State Resort Park and within the catchment area of the Ohio River. The lake has an area of ​​approximately 75 hectares and is up to 18 m deep. It is formed by the dammed Clay Lick Creek and its tributaries Buffalo Branch and Pruitt Fork.

The initiative to create a lake for fishing and fun design was founded in 1948 by George Collins and the Greenup Fish & Game Club from. After the selection of a suitable location was as the name of the future lake " Greenbo ", composed of the name of the participating counties Greenup and Boyd, selected. When 1953 started collecting the necessary funds they took a $ 210,500. 1955 Greenup Dam was completed in 1970, the lake is part of the State Parks.

In the lake catfish, trout and blue sunfish ( bluegill ) were exposed for anglers. He is also known for the large largemouth bass.
