The band played in this lineup a three albums, Greenslade (1972 ), Bedside Manners Are Extra ( 1973) and Spyglass Guest ( 1974). As a cover designer of the popular fantasy artist Roger Dean and Yes court painter could be won. He designed for Greenslade become iconic multi-armed figure. However, none of the albums was an outstanding success. Tony Reeves left the band in 1974 and joined Curved Air on, he was replaced during a U.S. tour, and on the fourth album, Time And Tide ( 1975) by bassist Martin Briley who also contributed some guitar passages on Time And Tide. 1976 sparked Greenslade on his belt.

He tried to reunite the band and was of the original cast at least bassist Reeves win for the project. The two went with drummer Chris Cozens and vocalist / keyboardist John Young (previously in Asia and Qango ) into the studio and recorded the album Large Afternoon ( 2000) on. The album was produced by Chris Cozens. For the subsequent tour Cozens, however, was replaced by John Trotter. A live release called Greenslade 2001 - Live: The Full Edition documented these concerts.

The band was still not officially dissolved and plays concerts every now and then. You currently exists (Spring 2007) from Dave Greenslade, Tony Reeves and John Young.

On Green Lades 's third album, guitarist Dave ( " Clem " ) Clempson (ex Humble Pie, former Colosseum) made a guest appearance, he can be heard on two of the pieces.

Style

All Greenslade albums have a characteristic balance between songs and instrumentals, acoustic and electric parts, progressive folk and rock, dressed in soft sounds, which came mostly from Green Lades keyboards. Dave Green Lades compositions and solos are characterized by light jazz colorings.

The publications after the reunion of 2000 could not hold the compositional level of previous albums. Both Cozens and Trotter Andrew McCulloch are not comparable, also the finances for Large Afternoon were so limited that even the saxophone had to be imitated by the keyboard. In addition, the sound was especially the drums and some keyboards of low quality and did not meet the usual sound-shape from the seventies, what many fans when they learned of the new release at all, alienated.
