Groß Rosenburg is a district of the town Barby in Salzlandkreis in Saxony- Anhalt.
Geography
Groß Rosenburg is located on a river loop of the hall, just before their confluence with the Elbe. Located in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve Groß Rosenburg is about 10 km from Calbe (Saale ) and about 13 km from Aken (Elbe ) away.
For the former municipality Groß Rosenburg belonged to the district of retail Roseburg.
History
Probably originally Slavic populated place appears in 839 as Rosburg in a document. At the castle ( now a ruin ), which is attested in the 5th century, was at a large farmyard. This royal court came as a donation 965 Otto I in Magdeburg Mauritius Monastery ( predecessor of the Magdeburg Cathedral ). Rosburg was 993 called Civitas.
As a fief of the place belonged with the Office of Roseburg 1136-1270 Count of cross- ford and in 1300 as an after fief to Count of Barby from the house of the Counts of Arnstein and thus became part of the county Barby. Under Count Wolfgang I of Barby, the Reformation was introduced in 1540.
After the extinction of the Counts of Barby in 1659 it came to the division of the county of Barby. The place was as part of the Office Roseburg as a former fief of the archdiocese of Magdeburg on the photo associated with Brandenburg Archbishopric of Magdeburg (wood circle). Since 1815, the town belonged to the district calbe a / p in the Prussian province of Saxony. After 1945 Groß Rosenburg belonged to Saxony- Anhalt. After dissolution of the states within the country he belonged to the district of Magdeburg from 1952 and again since 1990, the state of Saxony- Anhalt.
East of Groß Rosenburg Nature Reserve Steckby - Lödderitzer is forest - one of the core areas of the biosphere reserve, which was already reported in 1979 by UNESCO as such. In this area, the nature is left to itself - the constant change of high and low water has created a unique in Central Europe floodplain landscape with refuges for threatened plant and animal species here.
Groß Rosenburg is dominated by agriculture, sustainable tourism and small and medium businesses.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipalities Groß Rosenburg, Breitenhagen, Glindemann, Lödderitz, Pömmelte, Saxony village, Tornitz, wasps and Zuchau and the city Barby (Elbe ) merged to form the new town of Barby. At the same time the management of Community Elbe- Saale, was one of the Groß Rosenburg was dissolved.

From Groß Rosenburg in the Elbe -Saale- angle consist road links to calbe (Saale ), Dessau and Köthen (Anhalt). Yaw cable ferry across the river Saale connects Groß Rosenburg with Barby (Elbe ), another greed cable ferry in the neighboring municipality Breitenhagen with the city of Zerbst / Anhalt. The nearest train station is five kilometers away in the village of Saxony ( railway Magdeburg -Leipzig ).
