Große Pyra

Winter evening in the valley of the Great Pyra

The Great Pyra is a right tributary of the river Mulde in Saxony.

Course

It originates at the crest of the Western Ore Mountains at about 930 m height at the German -Czech border. The source stream first flows in a northwesterly direction through the now dry lying Black Pool. Here he comes over to Saxon side, taking on larger tributaries on the right side of the Seerbächel and Butterbächel on. Left hand then open Schwerdt Bach and Bach murder. A " Small Pyramids " said right tributary is not to be confused with the actual little Pyra, the west continues to flow and is an independent tributary of the river Mulde. Others

The upper reaches of the Great Pyra pervades exclusively forests and drained the nature reserve of high moorland the Great Crane Lake to the west. The boggy ground colors the water of the river dark. The trail, which runs through the valley of the Great Pyra, ends on ridge trail near the source of the river.

Previously the water powered hammer mills and several mills. The mill races are partially visible today.
